Ribbon Cutting Celebration: A Beautiful Beginning for Trinity’s Children
On Thursday, April 17th, we celebrated the official ribbon cutting and grand opening of Trinity’s Children, Inc. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and the setting at the Trinity Viola Ripley Memorial Bench in Galyn Manor Green Park was truly heartwarming. We were surrounded by friends, partners, leaders, and neighbors — nearly 40 guests from many different backgrounds joined us to commemorate this important milestone.

Mayor Nathan Brown presented a city proclamation declaring April 17th, 2025, as Trinity’s Children Day in Brunswick. We also received proclamations from Maryland Senator Bill Folden, Delegate Jesse Pippy, and Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater. Their support means the world to us.

One of the most touching moments came from former Senator David Brinkley, who gave a heartfelt speech and quoted Elizabeth Edwards:
“If you know someone who has lost a child, and you’re afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died—you’re not reminding them. They didn’t forget they died. What you’re reminding them of is that you remembered that they lived, and …that is a great gift.”
—Elizabeth Edwards
One of the most sobering realizations during the event was how many of us have been personally impacted by this crisis. Among our guests were at least seven parents who have lost a child to overdose, and many others in the crowd have lost a close friend or loved one to fentanyl. Out of roughly 40 attendees, more than a quarter have felt the devastating pain of this epidemic firsthand. This staggering truth underscores why Trinity’s Children exists — to fight this crisis head on. Our board of directors is passionate and laser-focused on raising awareness, advocating for change, and supporting those left behind. We are already seeing the ripple effects of our work, and we’re just getting started!
